Designed by Chris Shao for Movimento Gallery, the Good for Business armchair is available in two versions: the armchair version and the lounge version. The legs, which drop and then rise with an irregular rhythm, evoke the pulsation of an electrocardiogram: a lively and unstable line that infuses dynamism into the seat. A padding with fluid shapes, covered in a dark fabric, rests on this structure, enveloping the seat and extending harmoniously over the armrests and, in the lounge version, over the backrest, giving the object a welcoming and sculptural character at the same time. In this continuous dialogue between control and variation, both armchairs become a subtle and ironic statement on the concept of “utility”: everything can be “good for business”, depending on the context in which it is interpreted. The finish developed by the gallery amplifies this ambiguity: the material becomes almost narrative and accentuates the sensitive quality of the object . Between everyday inspirations and visionary drifts, Good for Business constructs a language oscillating between function and story, between irony and material intensity. An armchair that invites interpretation.
