The perception of a material is the result of a complex process that allows the mind to confer a meaning to the inputs which come from an external, past and sensorial experience. Everyday the relationship between mankind and the material is reflected in the traditional and cultural idea that we have of such material. Classico Scomposto deconstructs the conceptual and concrete idea of stability of the travertine. The project investigates a different and unusual perception, far from the collective consciousness. The classic forms break down, the stone is stained with new chromatic relationships which define an hybrid, multifaceted future time. The first objects of this new research are two small side tables: essential elements recontextualized, which showcase the artisan tradition of travertine stucco. The atypical surfaces denote the contemporary as a reflection of a continuous contamination and modification between natural and artificial.
