In tradition, we instinctively attribute specific uses and qualities to materials: stone speaks to us of solidity, rigidity, and security, while wood evokes lightness, elasticity, and warmth. Light Tension plays with our expectations, stretching the materials like threads and reversing their conventional roles. Travertine, usually austere, sheds its rigidity, while wood, organic and flexible, rises as the firm pillar of the composition. The contrast reveals itself within the elements: the tabletop, composed of two parallel semi-cylinders, traces a light, soft, and sinuous curve that gently moves away from the wall, creating a unique and dynamic spatial dimension, while the two supports evoke the stability of foundations. Light Tension is crafted from travertine and glossy laminated wood. The finish of the materials is designed to extend the play of contrasts into the visual and tactile dimensions: the porosity and rough texture of the travertine contrast with the refinement and shine of the laminated wood, creating a vibrant dialogue between them.
