Territory explores the contrasting identities of hot-rolled steel, preserving the material’s inherent roughness while revealing a softer, more refined interior. The exterior retains the steel’s distinctive texture and patina, shaped by the heat of its production, while the inner surfaces are smoothed and finished with rust-preventive oil.
The resulting console holds these opposing qualities in tension, raw and refined, industrial and tactile, allowing the character of the material to define the object.
